github org experiments

OK, am not TOTALLY sure of what I’m doing, but I’ve added this github
organization:

For now, Frank, Rintze and I are admins for it, but it’s totally flexible.

We then have our first repo:

… and I’ve created a “team” of “Style Editors” that has access (though
currently “pull only”; not exactly sure what that means here) to it.

Let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions. My basic idea is
to load the 1.0 styles from the zotero repo to this one, and then to
manage edits via the “team” feature, where members of this team have
permission to pull patches from elsewhere, or to edit directly.

Description of teams is here:

https://github.com/blog/674-introducing-organizations

Based on that, I’ve switched the “style editors” team to give full
permissions (pull, push and administrative).

Cool to see it.
Next step: populate with 1.0 styles?

I guess that the frontend (like Zotero Style Repository) can be done later.

Regards,

Cool to see it.
Next step: populate with 1.0 styles?

Yes. It’s finals week here, so I just haven’t had the time for that step.

Yes, that’s the idea.

Bruce

the front end could be made quite nicely with github pages, I use them
for my blog. http://pages.github.com/

What are you suggesting exactly? Programatically generating an index page,
and adding a bit of JavaScript magic?

BTW, if anyone wants permissions to play around with any of this, just send
me a note with your github user name.

I just did this, but there are some details to need work:

  1. I added some guidelines on CSL file naming, which are currently
    violated by a few styles

  2. missing dependent styles I believe

  3. I haven’t done anything about the URI issue I previously asked about

  4. need to notify style editors and ask them to get set up on github

But I doubt I’ll be able to do much more on this until the first of
the new year.

Best to everyone for the holidays,
Bruce

Did you:

a) use the most recent update.xsl
and
b) take into account that the Zotero style repository contains some CSL 1.0
styles (e.g. http://www.zotero.org/styles/McGillv7/dev )?

Rintze

No. My time was really limited, so I need to find time soon to clean this
up.

Cool to see it.
