Unfortunately, Contributor won’t work for your examples–Zotero needs
to add a special creator type for when a book by one author contains a
preface or afterword by another …
Ah, right, I missed that.
So the solution on the CSL end is a “container-author” variable, which I
just added. As Elena said, though, this won’t help you on the Zotero end.
This reminds me of a minor problem I currently see: “series-editor.” We
really have no generic editor for collections. I could imagine an
exhibition curator filling this role. For now, I’ve added
“collection-editor” though I hope this doesn’t cause any confusion.

“series-editor” is only used in one style so far (chicago author-
date)
and can be easily renamed “collection-editor”–should we just do
that?
That’d be my impulse.
Well, unfortunately 1.0.3 was just released, before we resolved this.
It’s probably best to wait and make this change in cite.js right
before the next release is out, given that a lot of people are going
to use dev styles with the public release of Zotero.

I went ahead and deleted “series-editor” per this conversation–please
use “collection-editor” instead.
Best,
