Page identifiers and page ranges

Just came across this while looking for something else:

So much for taking a hyphen to indicate a range of pages.

Huh? It seems from my read they’re just throwing out page numbers
altogether. Makes sense given current trends.

It’s a sensible practice; I was just thinking that this could pass
through to the processor as a string with hyphen in the pinpoint
(locator) field. I wasn’t thinking things through, obviously; the
string is composed of standard CSL elements, and I missed the bit
about omitting the page number.

So … yes.
