A small question about disambiguation.
Re disambiguate-add-givenname, should this include expanding an
abbreviated name to the full given name?

Ooh, good question!
We say nothing about this, but I think I agree with your suggestion. I
suggest we add that to the schema; any objections?
Bruce
Sorry but the network of my university has been down all day long -
actually is still down right now and I’m not going to say what i think
about our network administration -, so I’m reading this from
sourceforge and cannot reply-to, but I want to strongly object to
Bruce proposal.
If add-given-names is set in a style where elements have the
initialize-with attribute set, then you should first try with the
initials. If the initials do not disambiguate the colliding citations
then you add the full name.
This is how the Haskell implementation works (and I believe it is the
natural way of dealing with this problem).
Don’t you agree?

That’s exactly what I meant to say!

Here’s another disambiguation question. Which of the following two
resolutions is correct, using disambiguate-add-names?
John Doe, Jane Roe
John Doe, Jane Roe, et al.
or
John Doe, Jane Roe
John Doe, Jane Roe, Joe Smith
Or is there a difference on this between styles?

If those are the only names, then the first (because the et al does
disambiguate then).

I’m still waiting for Bruce’s answer to my objections (the network
came back after being down for almost 48 hour and deferred emails are
still arriving)…
Anyway I apologize for my confusion.
