Allowing styling of “et al.” has been discussed before, but as far as I
could discover it hasn’t yet been implemented.

This and at least some of the other three open ticket options need at
least one project to commit to implementing, preferably with )in this
case) a specific proposal. Otherwise, there’s not much point; we’d be
causing problems with no clear benefit.
So, I’d appreciate if SImon/Dan, Johan, Andrea, etc. could take a look
at the tracker when they get a chance, and weigh in. I’d like us
sometime be able to declare 1.0.
