If we have a container-title, some name variables may refer to title or to container-title. For example, translator can refer to both. Or, if we have a volume in a multi-volume work, it is not clear if editor designates the editor of the individual volume or the multi-volume work.
This will be even more serious once we have introduced volume-title. If we have chapters with title, volume-title, and container-title, translator could refer to each level in this hierarchy; while editor can’t refer to title here, it can still refer to volume-title and container-title.
Have there been discussions about this before?
I suggest that we consider adding specific variables for each level in the title hierarchy, e.g. container-editor, container-translator, volume-editor, volume-translator, etc.
