# Endnote xml'y format

This is pulled from a word document my collaborator sent me. It’s the  
text of an inline Endnote reference, to see if you have to click on the  
in text cite and say “Toggle Codes”. I added some formatting to make  
the structure clearer:

This looks eminently parse-able.

Google gives a few references to it eg.

[http://www.mat.ethz.ch/research/publications/xml\_format](http://www.mat.ethz.ch/research/publications/xml_format)

but they all say it isn’t documented (but that page offers everything  
short of a schema). Anyone know anything more?

I created a RELAX NG schema of the latest Endnote XML DTD awhile back  
that fills in some of the non-documented information (so I had to  
convert the standard DTD, and then add in additional structure; for  
example for the critical reference types).

BTW, I think the format documented above is an older version. The newer  
one is better (though still not great).

Hey all… the new repository is functional and is temporarily hosted at:

[http://66.93.224.237/svn/citeproc/](http://66.93.224.237/svn/citeproc/)

This will revert back to  
[http://citeproc-source.x2x2x.org/svn/citeproc/](http://citeproc-source.x2x2x.org/svn/citeproc/) when I flip the switch  
on this machine to accept traffic from 66.93.224.14, the IP of the  
existing server. I am just finishing up with importing all of trac  
stuff and once this is functional and I have verified the ability to  
host other projects on the same Trac server I will be make the final  
switch. In the mean time can you use this the above IP to check  
anything new into?

Let me know if you have any troubles with this. I am also looking at  
trying to make this install SSH friendly… I’ll let you know how it  
turns out 😃

BTW, sorry for cross posting that last. Now the bibdesk-develop list  
knows about the secret server… I should control my urge to speak  
widely!

Unless you have another need for SSH access, I would recommend avoiding  
Subversion over SSH - it is really only intended for use when you can’t  
use it through Apache for some reason. Apart from anything else it can  
be a security risk unless you are confident with chroot etc. The  
subversion documents also recommend against running a repository with  
multiple protocol access. Is there some reason you need SSH?

Oh wow, I didnt realize this was the case. Thanks for the tip!

As far as need this is just one of the many requested features over  
the last few months that always seemed like a good idea and as such  
something to implement when time permitted. But with this new source  
of enlightenment it seems obvious this needs to be rethought… thats  
Bruce’s job 😃 I stopped thinking back in 84’… best decision I’ve  
ever made 😃

Thanks for saving me a few hours from my week! 😃
