Hi all,

I’m one of the co-founders of EasyBib ([www.easybib.com](http://www.easybib.com)). We’re an online
(hosted) bibliography composing service that high school and college
students use for their citations. We get a bit over 20M users a year using
EasyBib.

We are interested in adding CSL support to our service, which we hope will
introduce our users to the wide range of styles out there, and make
transitioning to / from our service easier. I wanted to ping the mailing
list because I wanted to make sure we attribute the code we use to the
proper people/projects.

Our current thought is to link to individual contributors associated to each
CSL file that might be used, along with [citationstyles.org](http://citationstyles.org) as the overall
group. We will also link to citeproc-js, since that’s what we’ll be using
for the CSL parser. Let us know if that works and if you have any additional
feedback.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Best,
Darshan

So just for context for everyone, Frank and I have chatted to Darshan
separately, and when he asked me about this issue, I was explaining
that this is a question whose answer is still in some flux. So I’m
curious how people are thinking about this question of attribution on
style use.

I also mentioned to him a bit about plans for [citationstyles.org](http://citationstyles.org) and
the csl editor and repo that I am hoping can help clarify all this.
Alas, I haven’t gotten much feedback on my recent thoughts on this
(about adding user authentication, commenting, etc.).

Bumping this; any thoughts?

As I told Bruce off-list, I think that this is totally permissible, as long as there is attribution. Preferably, there would be a link to the styles themselves (particularly if they have been modified).

Thanks Simon (and Frank and Bruce) for the feedback. We’ll keep the mailing
list updated as to our progress.
